Steam Halloween Sale: Top Picks

Steam’s annual Halloween Sale began yesterday and does not last long at all! I have scrolled through the Steam story and compiled a list of 10 awesome games that are currently on sale so that you don’t have to!

The Winter Sale is right around the corner with more games included so if money is tight, it might be a better idea to wait another month for the bigger sale.

  1. Shadow of the Tomb Raider
  2. Pony Island
  3. Battle Chef Brigade Deluxe
  4. Oxenfree
  5. American Truck Simulator
  6. Mad Max
  7. Pajama Sam Complete Pack
  8. The Technomancer
  9. Outlast 2
  10. The Norwood Suite

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is only at a 34% discount, but it made the list because it just came out last month. You can already grab the game for $39.59 right now! Currently, this game has Mixed reviews on Steam, but that is because it has been review bombed by people who just paid full price for this game and are pissed that it is already discounted. Oh well.

Pony Island is a fun little game that can be beaten pretty quickly. I completed the game in just two hours, but this is definitely a gem that should be experienced and $1.64 is the perfect price!

Battle Chef Brigade was recently included in the Humble Monthly. This game pairs combo-based hunting with puzzle-based cooking and is truly enjoyable. It’s currently 40% off on Steam.

Oxenfree is a supernatural thriller perfect for Halloween. Oxenfree is a steal at 75% off for $4.99. If you don’t buy anything else on this, buy Oxenfree.

American Truck Simulator might look like an extremely boring game, but it’s actually a lot of fun. I recently reviewed the game after receiving it in the Humble Monthly. This game is currently 75% off for $4.99. If you want to experience driving a truck through California, Nevada, and Arkansas delivering cargo to various businesses, this is the game for you.

Mad Max is also 75% off for $4.99.

This is no joke. I enjoyed countless hours playing Pajama Sam when I was a kid. Pajama Sam 3 is among the first games that I remember playing. This Pajama Sam Complete Pack is great for children or if you want some nostalgia. The pack is currently 50% off for $12.49. The four main games are included along with Sock Works and Lost & Found.

The Technomancer currently costs $7.49. This is not the best RPG and has its flaws, but it is fun.

Outlast 2 is another perfect game for Halloween. This one is scarier and more thrilling than Oxenfree. I recently played Outlast 2 and had a blast. It is 75% off for $7.49.

The final game on this list is a strange game and I love it. Don’t let the visuals deter you from purchasing The Norwood Suite, because it is surprisingly fun. The Norwood Suite is a short game sitting at just under 2 hours, but it is currently 50% off for $4.99.

There are a number of other games on sale as well including: Rust, Friday the 13th, Dark Souls III, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, Divinity: Original Sin 2, No Man’s Sky, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Rocket League, but remember there will be bigger sale coming later in November.

American Truck Simulator

American Truck Simulator is one of those game that I never pictured myself playing for longer than one hour—I have played 16 hours in the last two weeks. That’s crazy!

In American Truck Simulator, you are a truck driver. You deliver various cargoes across sunny California, sandy Nevada, and the Grand Canyon State of Arizona. New Mexico and Oregon can be purchased as DLC for $11.99 each. Oregon just released on October 4, which is probably why American Truck Simulator was included in the October 2018 Humble Bundle. If you got the October 2018 Humble Bundle, you will be able to save 50% on New Mexico and 10% on Oregon until November 5.

Try New Things: Humble Bundle

The obvious question: If American Truck Simulator was not in the Humble Bundle would you have bought it and played it? No.

American Truck Simulator is not the type of game I typically enjoy, but this game is relaxing and while it might not be fun at times, it is enjoyable. The game is somewhat simple. You drive to a location, pick up cargo, drive to a different location, drop off cargo, and repeat. Sometimes you stop at a rest stop, refuel at a gas station, buy a new truck, upgrade a garage, and hire a new driver for your company.

My second truck.

There are very few driving games that are not racing games. American Truck Simulator is one of the few, but you can still semi-drift around corners if you so desire.

Tried to take this corner at 93 mph—quickly slammed on the brakes midway.

You will get tickets for speeding, running red lights, and collisions. Other vehicles actually respond to your turn signals so make sure to use those even though a lot of people still do not use them in real life. You will fall asleep if you do not stop at rest-stops every so often and you will have to call a tow truck if you run out of fuel.

Sometimes you will come across road construction or wrecks.

If you are uncertain about American Truck Simulator, there is a demo available on Steam. I think that American Truck Simulator is enjoyable, but probably not for everyone and for some people $19.99 might be a little bit too expensive. It is fun if you want to relax and take in the scenery.
